22nd February 2012 – Breakfast with Committee breakout conversations
7th March 2012 – Breakfast with guest speaker Ed Condry, talking to
us about the preparations for the cycle ride from Olympia (Greece) to the London Olympics. He’s doing this with 2 of theCondry sons and nine others to raise money for Kent, Surrey and SussexAir Ambulance.

Members are encouraged to bring guests to speaker meetings, however please use the club members’ website so we can notify numbers.

2. Jarle read the first part of the Object of Rotary.
3. Rob announced the great news that the Club was successful in both it’s application for grants this year. The Club will receive $1,000 each for Bikes4Africa and Dogs for the Hard of Hearing. The Club has to match fund the Grants.
4. The rest of the meeting took the form of informal breakout sessions.
5. The steward was Rob.

The President welcomed guests Julian Brazier, Robert Boyd, Pauline Davis and Neil Webster, of the KM Group.
Robert Boyd, President Elect of his Club, brought greetings from the Canterbury Lunchtime Rotary Club.
Our President Elect, Jim, introduced our speaker, Julian Brazier, Canterbury’s MP since 1987.
Richard proposed the Vote of Thanks to Julian Brazier.

Sunrise Rotary brings Santa to the streets of Canterbury

Each Christmas the members of the Rotary Club of Canterbury Sunrise take Santa on his sleigh up and down the streets of the Canterbury area so children and families can meet him and help them raise money for Rotary charities.

From 5^th to 16^th December 2011 the sleigh toured through Thannington, Bridge, Chartham, Spring Lane, Fourty Acres, Salisbury Road, Barton Estate, London Road Estate and Nunnery Fields, as well as in the city centre over the two weekends. The Rotarians collected over four thousand pounds for local, national and international Rotary charities that the club supports, by knocking on the door of every house on each evening’s route and welcoming children and families to meet Santa on their own street.

There were no guests or greetings from other Clubs.
The minutes of the meeting of 16^th November were approved.
There were no matters arising.
Brief committee reports were presented
The Treasurer confirmed a small budget matter .
Any other Business; a vote was taken and the morning meeting on 28^th December was cancelled. Jarle will sound out Sunrisers for their interest in a social that night.

Ruth read part 3 from the Object of Rotary.
The President welcomed Harry Cragg and Richard Kemball-Cook from the Canterbury Club.
Suzanne brought greetings from the Rotary Clubs of Porta Valento in Mexico and Beverley Hillls. Dave brought greetings from Tooting. Ruth brought greetings from Canterbury Rotary Club.
Richard Kemball-Cook gave a short presentation about End Polio now and the upcoming National Immunisation Day on 17^th February 2012.
Harry Cragg was introduced by Valerie and he gave a presentation on “A Life in the Day of the Lord Mayor”.
John proposed the Vote of Thanks.
Steve was the steward.

6. Imogen Morizet thanked the Club on behalf of the Westgate Community Trust for our contribution to their funds.
