“A Very Special Card” – Written by Rtn David Clarke
A good number of club members were treated to a very special event experiencing the full process of producing our own personalised greetings cards on the 12th of October.
Club members and families brought a diverse range of images and we worked with design professionals to modify and embellish the images to our own preferences and then to insert the images and text into the card template.
There was much laughter during the retouching process. My own family portrait was patched together by Celia from two photos taken by Lucy at the event itself and now shows that I have white teeth without the use of bleach.
Once the creative process was complete guests were invited to witness the multistage process in the print room. This included double sided printing, coating the outside, cutting and creasing before each of us was given a huge supply of our personalised cards to take home. I have a hunch that members will have a second chance to see some of the designs just before Christmas.
This experience was on the same day we enjoyed a breaksfast talk from the Anifest leader and so we had creative treats at both sunrise and sunset on that day.
I learned from one of the staff that the service of created totally personalised cards is not offered to clients although charities have personalised text on the inside. We owe enormous thanks to Jarle, Diane and their staff for their incredible generosity putting on this event.
