Charity Abseil

Two members of the Canterbury Sunrise Rotary club abseiled down Canterbury’s Fisher tower on Sunday 20th November at 2pm. While not quite as impressive as “The Shard” that is growing ever upwards in central London, it is Canterbury’s tallest suitable abseil location.

Rotarians Edd and Paolo were collecting for Rotary Charities and the KM Group’s walking school bus.

Earlier in 2011 Rotarian Jim kicked off a trend for the Canterbury club by descending Herne Bay’s largest building in aid of charity, contributing to an excellent £15k raised.

All 120 kilograms of Jim abseiled down Herne Bay’s tallest building: the 12 storey Saint Anne’s Court to raise funds for the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) in August (you can watch him coming down on the video link below).

That support for the ABF was organised by the Rotary club of Herne Bay and the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment (The Tigers).
